0

The Suzuki V-Strom 800 DE has been spotted undergoing testing in India, marking its first appearance in the country. While this bike is not manufactured or exported from India, it indicates Suzuki's intention to launch it in the Indian market.

Introduction of an All-New Platform

The V-Strom 800 DE is based on an all-new platform, distinguishing it from its predecessors. Equipped with an 84hp, 776cc parallel-twin engine, this bike will be positioned above the V-Strom 650XT model.

Notable Features and Specifications

Unveiled overseas in November 2022, the V-Strom 800 DE offers a range of impressive features. Its 776cc engine generates 84hp and 78Nm of torque, emphasizing mid-range power delivery rather than high RPM performance. The engine's 270-degree crankshaft provides a deep, V-twin style rumble, a characteristic commonly found in parallel-twin engines.

In terms of chassis and off-road capabilities, the V-Strom 800 DE surpasses its sibling, the V-Strom 650XT. It features a larger 21-inch front wheel, along with 220mm of ground clearance and 220mm of suspension travel. With a weight of 230kg and a seat height of 855mm, the bike offers adjustable suspension. However, unlike the V-Strom 650XT, the 800 model is equipped with spoked wheels that require tubed tires.

Advanced Features and Electronics

The V-Strom 800 DE outshines the V-Strom 650XT in terms of features and electronic assists. It incorporates a bi-directional quickshifter, a 5-inch TFT display, riding modes, and two modes for the switchable dual-channel ABS.

Pricing and Market Positioning

In international markets, the V-Strom 800DE is priced slightly higher than the Triumph Tiger 850 Sport but below the Tiger 900 GT. Suzuki's pricing strategy for the Indian market is yet to be disclosed. However, it is worth noting that the V-Strom 650XT's high price tag of Rs 8.85 lakh has affected its overall appeal, making the pricing of the V-Strom 800 DE a key factor for potential buyers.

As Suzuki tests the V-Strom 800 DE on Indian roads, anticipation builds for its official launch, offering adventure enthusiasts an enhanced and powerful option in the mid-size adventure motorcycle segment.
