Hero MotoCorp, the renowned two-wheeler manufacturer, has recently released a teaser video on its social media platform hinting at the introduction of a new 4-valve engine in the upcoming updated version of the Xtreme 160R. Along with the engine upgrade, the bike is also expected to feature a USD (Upside Down) fork, promising improved performance and visual enhancements.
Improved Performance with a 4V Engine:
The teaser video showcases a 4V badge on the bellypan of the Xtreme 160R, indicating the introduction of a 4-valve engine. This shift from the current 2-valve configuration to a more advanced 4-valve architecture is likely to enhance the bike's performance, particularly in higher rev ranges. The existing 2-valve, 163cc engine has already been praised for its lively performance in urban conditions, offering good low and mid-range power. The introduction of the 4-valve engine is expected to further enhance its performance at higher revs.
Enhanced Thermal Management and Potential Displacement Upgrade:
A leaked spy shot suggests that the new Xtreme 160R will feature an oil-cooler, indicating improved thermal management compared to the older air-cooled engine. Additionally, there is speculation regarding a possible increase in displacement from the current 163cc engine. However, concrete details about the engine specifications are yet to be confirmed.
Visual Upgrade with USD Fork and Potential Bluetooth Connectivity:
One of the most noticeable visual changes on the upcoming Xtreme 160R will be the inclusion of a USD fork, replacing the current telescopic unit. This upgrade is likely to improve the bike's handling and overall ride quality, although it may result in a slight increase in weight due to modifications in the main frame. Another possible addition could be Bluetooth connectivity, as seen in rival models such as the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V and the Yamaha FZS-FI.
Expected Price and Launch Details:
Currently, the Hero Xtreme 160R is priced between Rs 1.18 lakh and 1.30 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). With the anticipated updates, the revised Xtreme 160R is expected to undergo a price hike of approximately Rs 8,000-10,000. The launch of the updated model is expected in the coming months. These upgrades are aimed at revitalizing the Xtreme 160R, which has remained largely unchanged since its launch three years ago. The addition of new features will help the bike maintain its competitiveness in the market and offer a fresh appeal to potential buyers.
